Burnout is a psychological syndrome arising as a response to prolonged exposure to various types of stressors usually from the workplace. Although mostly associated with the so-called “helping professions” such as health care providers, burnout syndrome can affect anyone. Contrary to the belief that it only happens to successful professionals who are career-driven, emotional burnout syndrome can also happen to overworked employees, students, and even those who are staying at home.
